1882 The big bell has come at last and now hangs in the tower of the Presbyterian Church, it weighs 628 lbs. and whit it did not astonish us with is power, it has a very sweet tone. Will Clendenin says it is not a “high tone” bell - no offense to teh the bell you understand. We listed with pleasure to its pleasing chimes on Sunday morning as it rang out clearly upon the calm air and blendid with it were delightful memories of childhood’s happy days, mingled with singing birds and chiming Sabbath bells.
